A bold vision for conserving 30% of America

NEW

Conserving America’s lands and waters is essential to solving the environmental crisis.

Conserving 30% of America by 2030, or “30x30” is a bold but achievable goal that will address the climate and biodiversity crises while strengthening local economies, protecting public health, and expanding access to the outdoors. The road to this goal will be traveled by local leaders and communities.

Within the United States, about a football field worth of natural area is lost to development every 30 seconds. Hundreds of leading scientists have warned that this rapid loss of natural space is resulting in a mass extinction, exacerbated by climate change. In response to scientists’ urgent calls to action, a science-driven, community-based effort has evolved to conserve 30% of the planet’s lands and ocean by 2030 and prevent the unraveling of natural systems.

The American 30x30 goal is an opportunity to re-think our relationship to the natural world and #SaveMoreNature. It’s a chance to prioritize health, clean air and water, access to the outdoors, and sustainable jobs and communities. The time has come for communities across the country to work together, supporting and accelerating the conservation of our lands, waters, and wildlife so all of us may share in the benefits of our natural world.

“30 by 30 is about setting a goal and bringing people together on conservation to conserve lands for future generations — a bipartisan idea that is very popular with the American people.”
